The Integrated Single Electricity Market (I-SEM) is the new wholesale electricity market arrangement for Ireland and Northern Ireland which came into effect in October 2018. The pre-existing market arrangements have been replaced by multiple markets or auctions, each spanning different trading time frames, with separate (although related) clearing and settlement mechanisms, covering both energy and non-energy commodities.

The Speaker:

Mark has spent 5 years on the ISEM project firstly setting up the Programme Office, then as Participant Engagement and Market Readiness Lead, then as Market Trial Leader and finally in Post Production Support before taking over the Market Development role earlier this year. He is an active member of the IET Ireland Network, Engineers Ireland and am Secretary of CIGRE Irish National Committee. Mark is a Chartered Engineer and holds a BE in Elec Engineer from NUI Galway and an MBA from Smurfit School.
