Role: Head of Events
Job purpose: This is an exciting role within the Energy Institute’s External Affairs team managing EI’s already successful income generating events programme and leading and inspiring the team that delivers it.
Dimensions: Managing the Events team as part of the EI’s External Affairs team leadership, working closely with colleagues across the organisation and associated stakeholders on various projects including International Energy Week (IEW) and the launch of EI’s Statistical Review of World Energy.
Reports to: External Affairs Director
Nature and Scope
The events programme is a significant 7 figure programme built on a revenue basis. It provides the core of EI’s business/fundraising development, including through cultivation and stewardship of key sponsors and partners from the energy industry.
Key sponsors thrive on the opportunity to come together through EI’s key events, especially the programme of events during EI’s signature event IEW, which is a critical mainstay of relationship development and partnerships.
As Head of Events, you will report to the Director of External Affairs and be supported by a team of approximately three members of staff who work collaboratively across the EI. You will be responsible for delivering EI’s’ events strategy and programme and managing our centralised events programme, working closely with marketing, knowledge and insights, editorial and communications, and associated stakeholders.
Regional events are in the process of being brought in to be managed and supported more centrally, increasing the oversight of the Head of Events on all EI promotional activities globally.
You will have the opportunity to bring your extensive experience of events management and delivery, strategic thinking, and creative flair to enhance our approach to events, as well as a hands on, can-do approach. Keeping a cool head, you’ll confidently make effective decisions under pressure. You will be a friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic team member in nature, with excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with members, sponsors, partners, volunteers and other stakeholders and team members at all levels.
As a member of the external affairs senior leadership team, you will participate in the setting of overall organisational strategy, objectives, targets and culture. You will demonstrate through your behaviours the support of these organisational aims and ensure their compliance of them by your team.
