Honorary Fellowship of the Energy Institute awarded to Hong Kong energy leader

Ir Chiang Tung Keung CEng, Chief Executive Officer of CLP Holdings Limited, has been made an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute (EI), the UK-based professional body spanning the world of energy, in recognition of his leadership in the energy sector.


The presentation was made by the EI’s Chief Executive, Dr Nick Wayth FEI, at the Energy Institute’s office in central London.TK Chiang - HonFEI

Honorary Fellowship is awarded to distinguished individuals judged by the EI Council, chaired by its President Juliet Davenport OBE HonFEI, to have made a positive, distinctive and sustained contribution to the objectives of the Institute – namely the promotion for the public benefit of the science of energy and fuels in all applications and uses.

Nick Wayth FEI said:

“As a highly accomplished leader in the energy sector, Ir Chiang has a wealth of engineering and regulatory experience in his work in the power industry in Hong Kong and mainland China.

“A passionate advocate for the energy transition, he has driven significant reductions in CLP’s carbon intensity by decarbonising the company’s business portfolio. With a focus on energy efficiency and energy conservation, TK has spearheaded the provision of energy efficiency and conservation products and services to customers, enabled by a mass rollout of over 2.23 million smart meters connected in Hong Kong.

“For this work and much more, I’m delighted to be recognising TK with an Honorary Fellowship of the Energy Institute.”

Commenting, Ir Chiang Tung Keung CEng HonFEI said:

“My heartfelt appreciation to the Energy Institute for awarding me an Honorary Fellowship and I am deeply honoured by the opportunity to join one of the most prestigious professional bodies in the world.

“Over the past 35 years, I have witnessed and been a part of the remarkable evolution of the industry. So much as energy is my passion, decarbonisation is a top priority for CLP. Our commitment to fight against climate change is very much aligned with the purpose of the Energy Institute to create a better energy future by accelerating a just global energy transition to net zero.

“I truly believe that being a part of the Institute will help advance my passion for achieving the best for the energy industry and the wider society. I look forward to a long-term and meaningful association with the Energy Institute.”

Mr Chiang joined CLP Power Hong Kong as a Graduate Trainee in 1988. He has extensive experience in generation, transmission and distribution systems as well as regulatory strategy.

He has held various posts in different areas including power system asset management, planning, design, operation and maintenance, power quality, and corporate and regulatory strategy. Mr Chiang was the Managing Director – CLP Power Hong Kong from June 2017 to June 2023.

In addition to being the Director of various subsidiary and affiliated companies of the CLP Group, Mr Chiang is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, an Honorary Fellow of the Vocational Training Council, and a Chartered Engineer.
