This multi-format training course covers the fundamental science, concepts, business case, regulations, and best practices required to develop and deliver an appropriate net zero strategy including calculating emissions and setting carbon reduction targets.
It is available as a 20-hour self-paced online or a 2-day face-to-face training course. The self-paced online version can be started at any time and worked through at the learner’s own pace. Learners are each assigned an expert tutor who will be available to provide support via telephone or email. The face-to-face version is delivered at the EI Offices in London.
The courses gives an overview of: climate science, climate adaptation, climate mitigation, science based targets, GHG accounting conventions, and 'Offsetting'/'Greenhouse Gas Removals' (GGR). The course situates Net Zero within related concepts such as 'Carbon Negative', Carbon Positive', 'Carbon Neutral', 'Zero' or 'Low' emissions.
A number of case studies and practical exercises/activities support learners in developing or reviewing Net Zero plans for their organisation.
At the end of the course there is a short online multiple-choice revision assessment. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an end-of-course certificate from the Energy Institute.
