The Green Recovery and road to net zero are driving new and exciting career opportunities within the energy sector. Our future workforce must develop the right skills to succeed in a rapidly changing sector, with new technologies and job roles constantly emerging.
Students and young professionals will be the energy leaders of tomorrow, progressing our energy transition at a pivotal time. The Energy Institute London and Home Counties Young Professionals Network (YPN) is excited to showcase just some of the pathways and options available to the future workforce, through our virtual Skills of the Future Event series!
Over two days, we will be holding the following four events:
- Skills of the Future Kick-off (Monday 25th October, 09:00 – 10:00).
An introduction to the event from the London and Home Counties YPN, context-setting and a presentation on the Energy Barometer report.
- Pathways into the Energy Sector (Monday 25th October, 13:00 – 14:30).
A discussion on the diverse range of roles available in the energy sector, with a speaker round table debunking common energy career misconceptions.
- Skills Workshop (Wednesday 27th October, 09:00 – 10:00).
A discussion on the Energy Institute’s Generation 2050 manifesto, and a workshop on key professional skills.
- Workforce of the Future (Wednesday 27th October, 13:00 – 14:00).
A session discussing the energy industry’s journey with diversity, equality and inclusive practices – and how the sector can attract a diverse workforce both now and in the future.
This event series is kindly sponsored by Vattenfall, and throughout these series we'll hear from senior members from Vattenfall and the Energy Institute, as well as diverse range of professional organisations.
These events will be held virtually via Zoom. Please note that registering for this series will automatically register you for all sessions – so you only need to register once to obtain all event links.
Keep an eye out for the emails confirming your registration and Zoom links – and check your junk email if you haven’t received them by the event date!
