Event Details

Visit B9 Energy’s HQ to see their Direct Air Capture (DAC) machine along with a visit to Larne Harbour to see their pre-deployment trial equipment for the Green Shipping Corridor Projects

The visit will start at B9’s office in Larne where a short presentation will be given by B9 on their innovative work in the energy sector in NI.

This will then be followed by a visit to their Direct Air Capture machine on site. Direct Air Capture (DAC) extracts CO2 from the atmosphere which can be used in the food industry or for synthesis of alternative fuels such as e-methanol, e-kerosene and/or e-diesel.

Finally, the visit will end with a trip to Larne Harbour to see the pre-deployment trial equipment for the Green Shipping Corridor Project. The project sets out to investigate the feasibility of establishing an 'NI/GB Green Shipping Corridor' between Northern Ireland (Larne) and the Northwest of England (Liverpool), using a ro-ro freight ferry design powered by hydrogen reformed onboard from green methanol. The green methanol would be synthesised in the Larne Port from green hydrogen and CO2 as part of the Ballylumford Power to X Project.
